The Orticola di Lombardia garden fair, held at the Indro Montanelli Public Gardens on Via Palestro, has been fostering an interest in and love for nature for years, and through the “FuoriOrticola” initiative, it’s bringing a touch of greenery to the storefronts of downtown Milan.

In 2023, Swiss Chamber, through Swiss Corner, participated for the first time in FuoriOrticola with its storefront displays, thereby helping to make the city of Milan greener and aligning with the association’s philosophy.

Swiss Corner’s floral window display won the FuoriOrticola contest to select the best floral window display in the city: with nearly 1,500 votes, ours was the most-clicked display in the gallery on the website www.orticola.org

In line with Orticola’s 2023 theme, “The Intelligence of Flowers,” the project “Il Fior Fiore della Svizzera” plays on the association of flowers as a symbol of excellence—the very excellence that the Swiss Chamber and Swiss Corner promote to convey an image of Switzerland that transcends all stereotypes.

To this end,the design of Swiss Corner and its display windows was entirely handled by Laboratorio Idee, the Italian branch of the Swiss flower design school Atelier 5, with the support of its technical partner, Lombarda Flor.

Other prestigious partners in the initiative include Ricola, a historic brand with Swiss roots, an expert and pioneer in sharing the extraordinary world of plants and herbs, which illuminated the walls of the Swiss Corner in perfect harmony with the storefront displays; and Repower, a leading company in the electricity sector whose operations have always been guided by sustainability.
